Alcoholics Anonymous has a 12% success rate. What about the other 88% of us? Most 12 steppers believe if you leave "The Program" you will surely die. AA or Death. I believe however that there is a third option: Life. "The only requirement for membership is the desire to continue growing."
Welcome to Third Option!
This is a place where former 12 steppers can find a safe space to check in, to vent and to connect with others in the same situation. If you have been going to A.A. Meetings as long as I have (over 10 years) then you understand the impact it can have on your psyche if you decide to jump ship. Many of us instantly lose our social and support systems when we leave the program. There are even those members of A.A. that will refuse to talk to us unless we return to the program, claiming they care deeply about us but are simply "protecting" their own sobriety! This is by design and is a recipe for a self fullfilling prophecy: Jails, institutions or death. A.A. or death. Those are the choices 12 step gives us. However, I submit there is a third option: Life. We are all beautiful children of the universe and we deserve to be happy; with or without A.A. You do not have to own someone else's fear. You don't have to Hit bottom again. You don't have to be alone.
